TEEN PAWS CLASSES
The adolescent or ‘teenage’ stage of development is a difficult time for both owner and dog. As they grow from that cute small puppy into young adult’s things can get tough on all ends. We treat each dog as the individuals they are; some may need some extra help with confidence and some may need extra help learning if excited in different environment's.
The aim of the Teen Paws class is to help you through this challenging time and show you ways to help your adolescent into becoming a well-rounded adult dog. The classes teach a variety of behaviours through reward based training using many different reinforcers. To carry on from basic puppy cue’s into ones more structured towards the teenage stage; like impulse control, manners training, super speed rocket recall challenges, lead walking, how to tackle jumping up, nose games, and socialisation team work. We cover the power of play and how to use this as another reinforcer on your training journey. We will also cover important subjects like hormone changes, the next fear phases, body language, communication, things that can go wrong and problems we can prevent and help to make your relationship with your teen stronger.
We make this fun for everyone to learn together by using games and tasks that will help you with your own walks and other situations in your every day life with a Teenager!
Places are limited to six dogs only, so booking is essential.
Age group for this class is from 5 months up to two years old.
Five weeks practical – An Introduction and any further information needed will be sent out before the class starts via email. Including terms and conditions to be signed before classes start.
